Find all entities with a location in a text:

Wolfram Language code: TextCases["The Sagrada Familia is a famous cathedral in Barcelona, in Spain", "Location"]

Get the locations of these entities:

Wolfram Language code: TextCases["The Sagrada Familia is a famous cathedral in Barcelona, in Spain", "Location" -> "Interpretation"]

When the location of an entity in unknown, the original string is returned instead of a GeoPosition object:

Wolfram Language code: TextCases["Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany were the first states of the European Union", "Location" -> Function[#String -> #Interpretation]]
Wolfram Language code: TextContents["Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany were the first states of the European Union", "Location", All]

Entities with an unknown location can be filtered out using option VerifyInterpretation:
